George Augustus Robinson (1791 - 1866) was born in England and left his family there while he travelled to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) hoping for a better life. He was a builder by trade, but eventually found himself with the job of being Protector of Aboriginal people in VD Land and Port Phillip (Victoria).

Though he took a great interest in Aboriginal culture, George wasn't very good at protecting the people. This is essential reading for anyone interested in Australian Firt nations stories.
